Looking forward to: Finding out baby's gender at my ultrasound Wednesday
This week the baby is approximately the size of a bell pepper, at 6.70 oz in weight, and 5.59 inches in length.
"He is about the size of a pickle now and his weight will increase about six-fold over the next month. This happens in case of twins as well. He is practicing breathing with amniotic fluid and its chest is moving in rhythm as if breathing air. His hearing has now developed so that it can hear the sounds coming from outside the womb much clearer. Your baby's immune system is busy preparing for life outside the womb. Myelin (a protective coating of the nerves) is now being produced. An ultrasound done at this point would be able to detect any structural abnormalities. His umbilical cord is growing and continues to support his growing needs."
